About Primal Quest Montana
The 5th edition of the Primal Quest Expedition Adventure Race was hosted at Big Sky Resort, in south central Montana. Primal Quest is an environmentally friendly, ecologically aware, wilderness competition in which teams of world-class, endurance athletes journey across extreme terrain using only a map, a compass and combined team skills. Successfully navigating the 550- mile wilderness course required stamina, mental fortitude, selfless teamwork, inner spirit and absolute determination. In Primal Quest 2008, racers traveled nonstop for up 10 days using only non-motorized transportation such as mountain bikes, kayaks & river boards in addition to fixed rope climbing, free climbing, rappelling, running and trekking. The co-ed teams of four were required to travel together at all times and had to finish together with all team mates in order to be officially ranked. Over $175,000 in cash and prizes was awarded to the winners, and the top 10 teams won free or discounted entries into the 2009 Primal Quest race.
