This episode of Epic Conditions takes us on whitewater adventure down the Lochsa River located in north central Idaho. River guides and experts share their passions for the most elite whitewater rafting destination in the world.

Peter Grubb, founder of Row Adventures, talks of his rafting experiences and expertise while rafting the Lochsa. Rafting guides Kerry Riley, Craig Oberlink and hydrologist Rob Abramovich talk about their multiple expeditions down the 30-mile ride, with nearly 50 high-class rapids.

How does this river become so epic? Beginning in the winter months, upwards of 50 feet of snow can fall in the surrounding Bitterroot and Clearwater mountain ranges. When the snow begins to melt, water flows freely to the Clearwater river basin. Finally, when the snow pack and weather are right, the experienced whitewater rafter’s dream becomes a reality.
